Saving Arcadia was originally founded in 2004 in Torrance California For a year and a half, they played shows all over Southern California, gaining a respectable following. Then in 2005, founding member Davey GoLucky made the decision to move back to Washington State to be closer to his family. While attending a show in downtown Olympia, he met a band by the name of Fallacy. At the time, Kenny was playing drums in Fallacy. When he heard Davey's lyrics and vocals, he knew they had to do something together. Time and time again, their plans to meet up and write music fell through, and they eventually lost contact.Then, in late 2006, a wilderness survival course was being held at Davey's house. One of the participants in this course was former EYC employee Simon. Just as they were getting ready to leave, Simon spotted a guitar in Davey's room. When asked if he played, Davey replied that he played a little, but mostly sang. They exchanged numbers and agreed that they needed to get together and jam.Simon's best friend was a man by the name of Mike (Cash) who happened to be a drummer. Mike and Simon had spent most of their school career playing together, so it was natural for the two of them to go together and play. They knew right away that the chemistry was there, but one element was still missing. During a break in their practice, Davey decided to check his email. What he saw there was the last thing he expected. It was a letter from his friend Kenny, whom he hadn't talked to in a long time. It was short and to the point: "hey, I bought a bass. still need a bass player?" Davey called, Kenny came over, and the last piece fell into place. They all knew right away that this was the lineup they had all been looking for, and Saving Arcadia was reborn.In November 2006, Saving Arcadia recorded their demo. Since then, they have played Steadily in the Seattle/Tacoma area. With their music they try to inspire universal acceptance of all people as one, but in the end, for them it's all about having fun and living every day like it could be their last. |
