About Me





ARI (PRONOUNCED Ahr-ree) Hebrew translation "Lion", " Latin translation "beautiful melody".Her name proceeded her purpose; a Leo born lioness, her melody.....FuNK o~ With a father who kept a continuous rotation of R&B and Blues in her ears, while growing up under the heavy bass lines of Rick James and psychedelic sounds of funk and rock, this funkstress has lent her talents as a writer and her raspy and yet sometimes soulful harmonic vocals to various projects. Now spreading her own funkin wings, embarks upon her own release.The FuNk ...." Its the feeling I get in my chest from the bass....it's the unspeakable sounds the FuNk makes, that bears no words...left to my own imagination and interpretation... it's the sound a guitar makes that explains more than words ever could...."As a child, I remember my grandfather playing his guitar; I was mesmerized by it~ At about 5 years old I remember making up stories about what I thought the guitar was saying... I think I was about 9 when I penned my first song posted up in my room listening to music and reading album covers, I always felt like music was a bigger part of me than I was actually living....I grew up in a house filled with music, some days it was a musical escapade, going from one room to the next- from blues, to funk to rock, rock n roll...sometimes I couldn't sleep unless music was playing. Someone said "waking up and going to sleep to music for Ari J was as essential as air to breath"... " I think that coined it right there!""Life's stories always moved me....I was inspired by the stories I heard grown folks talk about til the wee hours of the mornining. Then one day...I started living my own "story" and meeting people with some amazing stories- Life has been my muse~ Music is the mirror of the soul, while at the same time, it's healing, it's invigorating, its celebratory, it's life!
