About Me |
|
| Check it; I'm James Knox Polk, the eleventh President of the United States, as I'm sure you all remember. My Secretary of State, James Buchanan, asked me a little while ago to make a MySpace account in order to be more "friendly and accessable." Whatever. In case some of you Whigs out there don't exactly remember who I am and what I stood for, let me give you a few little reminders. I beat Henry Clay in the election of 1844 to take the office of President in 1845, as the eleventh President, the tenth elected by the people (Damn you Tippecanoe & Tyler Too) Well anyway, I pledged to only serve one term, or four years for all you common folks out there. In those four years I sought to accomplish four main goals. What were they you ask? The first was to lower the tariff on imported goods from overseas. The second was to set up an independent treasury after the Panics of 1837 & 1839. The third was to settle to boundary between the United States and Great Britian in the Oregon Territory. And the fourth, and final accomplishment which I hoped to complete was to bring California into the Union, from Mexico. So, you may be asking yourself, "Papi, how many of those things did you accomplish?" The answer is, all of them. PS- The school in Nickelodeon's Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide is named after me. Do you have a school named after you? Didn't think so. |
