About Me |
|
| The Soirée Society of the Arts is a not-for-profit cultural arts organization that offers an alternative to the traditional concert hall experience. Inspired by the musical salons held in Paris by Chopin and Liszt during the mid 1800's and later by the incomparable French artists Monet, Debussy and Mallarme, the Soirée Society of the Arts is continuing the tradition of the Soiree Musicale in the New York Metropolitan area.
In 2007 the society received awards from Target, The Arts Council of Rockland, and the Westchester Arts Council to sponsor music festivals that represent a wide range of cultures including Russian, French, Spanish, Caribbean, Latino, Asian, Middle-Eastern, and Jewish. These concerts resonate with the Society's mission to promote an understanding of the culture that surrounds the piano. The South Nyack Recital Series (SNRS), founded in 1982, strives to create an inviting and social atmosphere that appeals to all ages with the goal of educating the Rockland-Westchester community by raising the level of understanding, visibility and appreciation of the performing arts. Dedicated primarily to the Classical solo piano repertoire, the series presents weekly concerts at historic Nyack Library on Saturday evenings as part of an effort to stimulate and perpetuate an ongoing culture of concert attendance. The goal of the series is two-fold: 1. to provide as many performance opportunities as possible while maintaining a professional standard of monetary compensation; 2. to give audiences access to the most accomplished emerging musicians today and provide a forum for discussions of literature, culture and art. The South Nyack Recital Series is a project of the Soirée Society of the Arts, a not-for-profit cultural arts organization whose mission is to promote an understanding of the culture that surrounds the piano.
