This is my guitar space. Allthough for me composing is the most important musical activity, playing my three instruments: flute, electric guitar and classical guitar play a big role in my life. Here I only post my guitarwork. I had a classical guitar training, my main teacher was Wim Spruijt in Rotterdam. Later I studied compostion and flute in France and Holland. I composed for and worked with great guitarists and lutenists like Wiek Hijmans, Michael Benedik, Naoki Fujii, Javier Alfonso, Alfonso Marin and Sadahiro Otani, mostly playing flute myself. Some 8 years ago I decided to come back to guitar and I bought an electric guitar. Really great to be able to use pedals and have sustained notes and play very loud if wanted. A whole other image as well! I like to use the instrument not only in jazz, but also in contemporary classical ensembles. I played as a electric guitar soloist with the main wind orchestra of Barcelona (Banda Municipal de Barcelona) and Grupo Circulo, a great new music ensemble from Madrid which was great fun and I had the chance to play duos and trios with great musicians like Robert Dick, Harry Sparnaay, Markus Stockhausen and Tara Bouman, Garth Knox and Jorrit Dijkstra to mention some. But now 2 years ago I felt like using again more flamenco-like sounds and techniques and that goes better with a classical guitar. I bought a semi acoustic one. Now I play in fact amplified classical guitar, which is another concept then just classical guitar and still very many aspects of it can be develloped. It's very inspiring for me in this moment. As a composer: I am right now composing a new guitar quartet, and will soon start composing duo pieces for guitar, tape and recorder, guitar and pipa, guitar, violin and tape and guitar and saxophone as well as a flamenco project for Mediterranean Art Ensemble (before EBNM).Thanks for listening to the tracks.
