| Cuatroespantos es un colectivo de músicos que toma el lenguaje improvisativo del Jazz, algo de la música y la tradición oral de Colombia y lo presentan en un formato instrumental. En el repertorio se incluyen temas compuestos por la banda y arreglados por el maestro Juan Sebastián Monsalve (Curupira). Su primer disco se titula "La matraca" que es la leyenda de donde tomaron su nombre.
Esta propuesta ha sido presentada en diferentes eventos de jazz de la ciudad de Bogotá, algunas de estas presentaciones han sido en: el festival de Blues y Jazz de la Libélula Dorada, el festival Jazz Domingo Nuevas Tendencias, el Teatro Teresa Cuervo Borda del Museo Nacional, la Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño, el Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitan, el Teatro Colon, el Teatro ArlequÃn, la sala Otto de Greiff, el Auditorio Fabio Lozano de la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, la sala Oriol Rangel del Planetario Distrital entre otros. En el 2007 la agrupación participó en las eliminatorias de Jazz al Parque donde Adrian Hidalgo (saxofón) ganó el premio como mejor instrumentista, JAZZ AL
PARQUE 2008The " CUATROESPANTOS " group is a collective of musicians looking for a communion between the improvised language of Jazz and the new tendencies of the colombian music. The band's work is based in the idea of looking for similarity between those genres seemingly different and to focus under a universal concept working therefor for a space in the world's music.
The ensemble uses particular elements of the eastern plain's traditional music although without leaving out other types of music from different regions or latitudes.
The performances include different formats: Quartet, Quintet, Quartet with Traversa Flute and Cuatro Llanero, Tiple and Doublebass, Sextet with multipercussion, ( Capachos, Maracon, Alegre, Guasa ) there for dynamism to the performance and avoiding the monotony of more static formats.
The repertoire includes themes composed by band and arranged by the master Juan Sebastian Monsalve (Curupira). There are also themes from other traditional and contemporary composers.
The band will place in the market it's first CD, titled " LA MATRACA". The general release of the CD will be in the middle of the second semester of 2008.
This proposal has been performed in Bogota city at different Jazz Events under the name " Black Jazz " and now as "CUATROESPANTOS" with a thematic closer to the colombian oral tradition.

In 2007 the group participated in the qualifying round for the Festival Jazz al Parque in which Adrian Hidalgo (Saxophonist) won the prize as the best instrumentalist player.
