no, i was a dancer/choreographer and just got into designing around the time i started myspace. i enjoy hearing from you guys and i respond to as much as i can. please be patient w/ me and refrain from negative comments if i haven't replied to you yet. if there's anything i will NEVER do is reply to you with words of negativity. i counter negativity w/ silence. that's how i am in real life so i won't be any different here. im not gonna be bolder here just because its the internet and i can't see your face. thanks to those who've been understanding. i did not take any classes for this stuff. not to say you shouldn't, i just didn't. i'm highly experimental and that seems to be enough. what i didn't learn in school, i made up for in my own mistakes...hehe. but if someone out there wants to mentor or fine-tune me, im down :) i have an OVERLY-indulgent attitude when it comes to creativity. i sometimes confuse this passion for my heartbeat. that would probably explain why it seems that i'm all over the place. in fact, i wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what i want to be in this life because i do not want to focus everything i am towards one ideal. i don't intend to be one thing. i just wanna keep moving. ALL WORK BY CLAIRE_E for THE LABCATZ THIS IS MY MYSPACE STORY...YUP I HAVE ONE one day, and i made a promise to follow our dreams. in this promise we each wrote where we saw ourselves in 5 years. i wrote: help 10 people accomplish their dreams. i struggled with the number before committing to it because i thought, how am i ever gonna pull that off when dreams are such big things to one person let alone 10? in 2004, one of them said, "why don't you join myspace?" i was like, "no." then i did anyway because i remembered the time the words "i don't need email" came from my mouth. started checking out people's profiles and thought it was cool that you could customize your profile by learning those code thingies. using what little photoshop knowledge i developed from trying to help my friends so they could concentrate on their music, and with no html knowledge, i started by learning the IMG SRC code and was so proud of myself when the link actually worked. i went bananas i say. so it began. this intense curiosity with design. i started looking up band postings of gigs on their bulletins and pretended like they actually asked me to design a flier for them. if I liked it enough, id send it to them. sometimes but not always, they'd use it. out of the blue, messages me and asks if i can help him make his page like how i had mine. one night he told me that i should keep going with this myspace designing stuff cuz he had a good feeling about it. so serious was he that he even came up with this whole business plan for me to think about. later, says, "check this person out on myspace...her outlook reminds me of you only you're more inward." so i read through her profile and think she is fascinating. i send her a message to tell her so. suddenly finding some guts somewhere, i say 'wth' and tell her in a p.s. email, "im just gonna go ahead and design a page for you and if you like it, you can use it." loved it. this was in 2005. and the rest is...now. for as long as ive made designing a part of my life, ive been on myspace. and in a sense, if you've been keeping up with me on here, you have been a part of it. a special thanks to the aforementioned - you should know that you are everything this page is. so, i couldn't say my dream is to design for the rest of my life because its not. design has become this way i thankfully stumbled upon to help friends explain their dreams. that by putting it in pretty-picture form, whoever sees it will understand it and give them a chance. check out some of my favorite creations since joining myspace. just mouse-over the thumbnails at the top of my page. best viewed: 1024x768 mozilla/ie/safari |
