PO Box 292, Knoxville, TN 37901 Hi, I'm Christian... I work with acts in all musical genres... rock, hip-hop, country... the gamut. When planning a shoot or CD cover I usually draw inspiration from the band's songs and lyrics. The music sets the tone. 1) An eye-catching cover that visually captures your performance style, ie, a jazz-swing cover should look like a jazz-swing cover... fans will recognize it quickly and buy it. Others will keep going. Everyone is happy! 2) A captivating photo of the artist on the traycard personalizes the release, creates rapport with a shopper and increases sales. 3) A legible spine with the title & release number (along with a bar code on the tray) will make your product store-friendly. Photographs and videos are not unlike songs. Good ones generally say something. They convey the band's mood or message. They reflect the style of the group. So usually one of my first requests is: "Could I hear the music?" And listening to any special ideas you might already have is also cool. Its best to get started early when you are recording your album - then when your music is ready so is the art!
