Exciting news about GOLD TONE artists...........CHECK BACK SOON TO READ EXCITING NEWS ABOUT GOLD TONE ARTISTS.
GOLD TONE, located in Titusville, Florida was founded by Wayne and Robyn Rogers in 1993. Active folk musicians in the 70’s and 80’s, they opened Strings N’ Things Music Center in 1978.

In 1993, Wayne designed the original TB-100 Travel Banjo and began manufacturing and distributing the "Traveler" by mail order. After a wonderful review by Banjo Newsletter, the TB-100 became very much in demand.

As the company grew, new innovations were combined with proven vintage designs. Dealers and customers continued to request quality banjos in a reasonable price range and soon GOLD TONE’s collection included 5 strings, 6 strings, Banjitars, Mando Banjos, 4 strings, and even our renowned Banjo Bass.

At GOLD TONE, we are committed to providing you with a quality banjo at an affordable price. That means quality parts, professional design, tight fitting assembly, and an expert set up by real musicians.

Wayne continually strives for "MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK" in every design and all price points. He plays every instrument before shipment and verifies GOLD TONE’S commitment to great tone, superb set-up, and your musical satisfaction!

GOLD TONE ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Gold Tone prides itself in having wonderful endorsing artists who demonstrate the same musical quality that we strive to put into all our instruments.

Each month during 2008, we will be showcasing a different artist. We hope you take time to listen to their music, read about the instrument they endorse and enjoy some of their video performances.

The April Artist of the Month is: Chuck Levy...please scroll down.

CHUCK LEVY

Chuck Levy has earned the title of Florida’s Old-Time Banjo Champ, as well as being a prize-winning Florida fiddler. The music being played on our site currently comes from Chuck’s release: "Scratching and Clawing" on Red Dog Records.

Originally from Ohio, has been playing old-time music in north central Florida of the last 8 years. He is equally at home on 5 and 6 string banjos (five strings plus a short string), whether fretted or fretless, playing clawhammer and minstrel styles. He draws inspiration from the music of the Midwest, southern Appalachians, and most recently the flatlands of Florida. His repertoire includes its share of uncommon tunes as well as a few intriguing originals.

Chuck’s involvement in music includes playing in the string bands "Physical Medicine" and "Fear No Weevil". Also he is the current president of the Florida Banjo Society and a past president of the Florida State Fiddlers Association. He also performs monthly as an Artist-in-Residence for the Arts in Medicine program at Shands Hospital of the University of Florida.

Chuck teaches fiddle and banjo in Gainesville, Florida, and directs the Suwannee Old-Time weekend and the Suwannee Banjo Camp. In July, 2007, Chuck spent two weeks in Gambia, Africa, studying the akonting with Jola master musicians Remi Diatta, Ekona Diatta, as well as with noted researcher and performer, Daniel Jatta. The akonting is an African 3-stringed instrument, similar in construction to the banjo, that is played in a clawhammer-like style.
