About Me

  • ORDER HYMNS 'BROTHER/SISTER' CD & VINYL!

  • ..

Hymns is the current form of friends from North Carolina who now live in New York City. They just released their first record, 'Brother/Sister', recorded in Celeste, Texas with Blackland Records (www.blacklandrecords.com). They are and will be touring. Everything else, nothing is known, the Plans will make Themselves.

    --talk--
'their dreamy west coast folk was drifting me off to a place where vw vans cruise the horizon, the weather isn't perpetually set on "march," and gram parsons is jesus. i dare you to listen.' - 'sup magazine
'brian harding is pretty darn phenomenal: if it's a fair universe, people will be compared to him in the next few years.' - stuck magazine
'Brian Harding and Jason Roberts have been playing together since grade school and it shows, their riffs and leads flawlessly intertwining, gracefully switching roles until they make a nonsense of the terms "rhythm" and "lead" guitar. As supple as they are subtle, the pair blur genre lines along the way, but in the end, their North Carolina roots inevitably show, all those years picking away on the porch shining through.' - allmusic
'imagine, it's not that hard, a band mixing the sonic dna of pavement and wilco (among others) and touting a front man who from second to second sounds like the leaders of both these bands (when he's not making you fall in love with his own high ragged voice).' - sixeyes
'you will kick yourself if you are not the first person you know to have this album.' - deli magazine
'hymns master the art of simple delivery, which is a refreshing change.' - pulse weekly
'the california sunset twang doesn't sound forced and rests nicely in these well-crafted tunes.' - village voice
