Obsessed with comics, he spends his time either pouring over their pages or fantasizing that he lives within one. It is there, in his own mind, that he fantasizes of saving the day, getting the girl and reveling in the glory. But his reality is a far cry from heroic and after he is pushed too far, he decides that it is time that he made his comic book fantasies... a reality. Notes From The Rogues Gallery is a comedic Don Quixote-esque tale of hope enduring in a cynical world in the tradition of Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket and Martin Scorsese's King of Comedy. Directed by Joseph M. Petrick & Andrew Paul Bowser and funded with credit cards and family hand outs, the film was shot over the course of ten days in a suburb of Maryland with the intention of acting as an illustration for the vision that the creators saw for a possible feature film. It, like Daniel, is a testament to impossible dreams and lofty ambition. With Petrick acting as writer, co-director and executive producer and Bowser starring, co-directing and editing, the creators had their hands full and upon completion of the short, promptly moved out to Los Angeles to begin the pitching process. If you are interested in becoming a part of the feature film’s production or would like to read the full length screenplay, contact either the filmmakers or their management to request materials. Petrick and Andrew Paul Bowser met when they attended film school at The School Of Visual Arts and immediately hit it off, finding they shared a similar taste in not only film but comedic sensibilities as well, the two began collaborating creatively in no time. Since then, the two have worked independently as well as together writing for television and directing music videos for bands such as Gym Class Heroes, Copeland, The Honorary Title and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, among others. In 2004 they decided to start their own production company called One Small Instrument to act as a home for their various artistic ventures and those of other artists that shared a similar creative and spiritual sensibility. It is their hope that Notes From The Rogues Gallery would be the first (of hopefully many) feature films produced under the One Small Instrument banner.
