Personal InsightIn short, music is my passion in life, and so, has become the basis of my life. I have to say that I became deeply troubled once I realized the unforseen direction that rap and hip hop had strayed in. This being mainly because, not only do I feel it misrepresents the mental capacity of Blacks/African Americans, we’re basically spoon feeding these derogatory lyrics to our babies. It’s sad to think that at the age of 4, most of our children would probably think that it’s only natural that we address our women as "bitches" and our brothers as "niggas." After all, they’re only adopting their standards of social behavior from those whom they look up to the most, as do their peers. Did we ever stop to realize that our children don’t ulitmately learn from each other, but from us. All mannerisms that our children may adopt from each other were initially learned FROM us, and eventually spread THROUGH them. Having realized this, it becomes quite easy to understandhow the negative messages of just a few could influence so many, especially when that message is delivered through music that is constantly and repetatively heard by so many. I’ve come to feel that this sudden change in airplay was in no way, by chance or coincidence, but done intentionally to influence the thought process and standards of acceptance for all who would hear the message. Though we may not have done so intentionally, there’s no denying that we truly have been sold a sham, and sold ourselves short in buying and accepting it. It seems like just yesterday our elders marched along side each other singing "We Shall Overcome," or spoke words of hope proclaiming "I Have A Dream.". How oh how did we ever fall so far so fast? It’s thoughts like this that will no longer allow myself, and those who feel as I do to simply accept the loathsome image we’ve created for ourselves as a race and as a people. Though our efforts may not impact change immediately, we will keep doing all that we can to make our message be heard by all who will hear it, and that message is: A Message of HOPE " A n e w d a y o f h o p e i s d a w n i n g . I'd Like To Meet: All and I do mean ALL open minded individuals who strive not just to ACCEPT what is presented, but to CREATE all that can be had for themselves and all whom they hold dear. All lightworkers, and enlightened beings of otherworldly mental/spiritual capacity. Interests: Higher learning pretaining to the nature of all that exists physically, and esoterically. To understand the TRUE nature of all that we see, and don't see. Music: Music that is as music was meant to be, uplifting and enlightening, as true music is soulfully FELT. Communcative messages that need not even be HEARD lyrically to inspire positive change in all who hear/feel it. Movies: So many, most of which are of Science fiction and hold many hidden truths. The Matrix, Terminator 1 & 2, Star Wars, The Fifth Element, Dream Catcher, and Signs. Television: Purely an instrument of the system used to keep us focused on issues that are inconsequential, so as to keep the masses distracted from the significant changes taking place within our political structure. In my opinion, it truely is one of our greatest enemies Books: Many were called few were chosen, Indigo Children, Warming Up to Living Foods, African Holistic Health and Calling on Extraterrestrials. Heroes: All of our forefathers who sustained the initial crippling of our people, and endured the suffering of ineqality so that their children would not have to. All the fathers who gave sweat and blood so that their children might have a chance to acquire the education we lacked in order to better ourselves. All who had their voices of freedom silenced so that ours would one day be heard. The greatest amongst these being Martin, Malcolm, and Kennedy. The existence we've been duped into accepting is not what they died for, therefore I work so that their sacrafices may not go in vain. My biggest heroes of all, however, are my parents. Were it not for them and their limitless support and guidance, nothing I am or have to offer could ever have been as it is. I love them more than words can ever say!!!
