LOS GIGANTES new CD "HIGHWAY PATROL" is now on sale at the online record store CD Baby and LOS GIGANTES' MP3-shop on www.los-gigantes.de! LOS GIGANTES travel along the Rio Grande, from Chihuahua to Arizona, from rural Mexico to the metropolitan America. Their journey leads them across borders, where the blues befalls bolero, where country music and cumbia collide, where tex meets mex. Armed with trumpet and accordion, they sing about the bars in Mexicali, life at the Mississippi, cockfights in Aguascalientes, about smuggling and treason, addiction, love and violence. With true frontier spirit, LOS GIGANTES push open the swinging door to the world. Let's follow them outside. THE TEXAS TORPEDOES Every now and then during the past few months we could observe two Lone-star Lotharios on the stage alongside LOS GIGANTES. Socially, culturally and musically, Öle Öhlenschläger from Mannheim/Texas on the drums and Winfried Wohlbold from Böblingen/Texas on the pedal steel guitar have proven to be the perfect complement. They bring sounds and experiences of the world north of the Rio Grande to the music of LOS GIGANTES. Thus the horizon broadened, the sky became even more infinite and the waters of the border river have parted... LOS GIGANTES viajan a lo largo del RÃo Bravo, de Chihuahua a Arizona, del México rural a la gran ciudad americana. Llegan a la frontera, allà donde los blues y los boleros se besan, donde la musica country y la cumbia se colindan, ahà donde el Tex y Mex se mezclan. Armados con trompeta y acordeón cantan sobre los bares de Mexicali, de la vida al Mississippi, de la pelea de gallos en Aguascalientes, sobre contrabando y traición, adicción, amor y violencia. LOS GIGANTES empujan valientemente la puerta de vaivén hacia el mundo. Vamos a seguirlos afuera. THE TEXAS TORPEDOES En los últimos meses pudimos observar una y otra vez en el escenario a dos temerarios Texanos formando parte de LOS GIGANTES. Ellos son Öle Öhlenschläger de Mannheim/Texas en las percusiones y Winfried Wohlbold de Böblingen/Texas en la guitarra "pedal steel", quienes tanto cultural como musicalmente han demostrado ser el complemento ideal. Ellos aportan a la música de LOS GIGANTES sus ritmos y experiencias del otro lado. Asà el horizonte se ha ampliado, los cielos se han vuelto más infinitos y las aguas del rÃo fronterizo se han separado... Begleiten wir LOS GIGANTES auf ihrer Reise am RÃo Grande entlang, von Chihuahua nach Arizona, vom ländlichen Mexiko in die amerikanische Großstadt. Immer wieder gelangen sie an und über die Grenze, dorthin, wo Blues und Bolero sich begegnen, wo Country und Cumbia kollidieren, dorthin wo Tex auf Mex trifft. Ausgerüstet mit Akkordeon und Trompete singen sie von den Bars in Mexicali, vom Leben am Mississippi, vom Hahnenkampf in Aguascalientes. Wir hören von Schmuggel und Verrat, von Sucht, Liebe und Gewalt. Beherzt stoßen LOS GIGANTES die Schwingtür zur Welt auf. Folgen wir ihnen nach draußen. THE TEXAS TORPEDOES In den letzten Monaten konnten wir auf der Bühne immer wieder zwei texanische Teufelskerle an der Seite von Los Gigantes beobachten. Sowohl soziokulturell als auch musikalisch haben sich Öle Öhlenschläger aus Mannheim/Texas am Schlagzeug und Winfried Wohlbold aus Böblingen/Texas an der Pedal Steel als die ideale Ergänzung erwiesen. Sie bringen die Klänge und die Erfahrungen der Welt nördlich des RÃo Grande in die Musik der Giganten ein.
