Our NoPo crap-rock scene makes its bones with stripped-down rock 'n' roll, and in that esteemed tradition, the Headliners have risen to the top. Ha! The disc is a gritty sonic assault of pretty much everything—like somebody put Iggy Pop, Ween, Johnny Cash, the Beach Boys, the Kings of Polka and Muddy Waters into a blender, mixed it with LSD and hit play. The band kinetically switches from soul to psychobilly to pop, and it all gels into some solid, garage-rock craziness.
