| Canada is at the forefront of new independent music. You know it and I know it and virtually everyone in the world knows it. Sadly, the Canadian mainstream press does not seem to know it. It is, in fact, safe to say that Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton (none of whom are talented or Canadian) have each individually generated more press in Canada than the New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene, the Arcade Fire, Feist, the Hidden Cameras, Wolf Parade, the Stars, and the Dears combined - not to mention the literally hundreds of other talented Canadian acts playing wherever people will stop long enough to hear them.Fortunately for us we have the CBC and fortunately for them they have Radio 3. CBC Radio 3 is the CBC's greatest success story of the decade. You may or may not be able to listen regularly, depending on whether or not you have satellite radio, but you can always listen online and is not only one of the most successful podcasts in Canada, it is one of the most popular music podcasts in the world. It is not only successful in it's own rite, it has helped to promote Canadian arts and culture (in this case music) and by extension Canada - something the CBC is supposed to do. It has made Canadian music increasingly popular not only in Canada but around the world.Now it is time to take the next logical step - Radio 3 TV: With Canadian music videos, music news, tour and festival info, new releases, interviews and the occasional in studio performance.Because, as Canadians, the CBC belongs to you, because it is something we want to see and because CBC Television hasn't had a music show (much less a Canadian music show) in a long time please join me in telling the CBC that We Want our Radio 3 TV (r3tv).
