After some experiences with other bands, unfortunately failed, the two (husband and wife in life) decided to play together at home. No fixed time for the rehearsal, same musical taste, what could be better? Our songs are hard rock, sometimes, (sorry for the demos, there isn’t the sound we intended) more melodic some others , alternating verses with clean guitar and “scratcher” choruses. We have some ballads, too, for a total of eleven songs. “Why only two instruments?” many people ask, and we always reply that guitar and voice can already play a complete song; we ADD drum, what do you need more? If you look the case from this point of view… We are just starting our concert season, but having only an hour of programm, it’s not so easy to play in pubs, so we are following festivals and musical contests: nice situations to meet other musicians and friends. Our influences derive from bands like Tool, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Nu Metal, even if the songs we compose are not in the genre; but we’d like to play in a band like those!!! Apart the USA market, we also consider very interesting the rock landscape of North Europe: a lot of gothic bands and female rockers. Please let us your comments on our simple but hearty music… Give rock a chance and… rock for ever to all you. VERSIONE ITALIANA I Talking Sound sono un duo di recente formazione. Dopo alcuni anni di scuola musicale e qualche esperienza in band locali, sfortunatamente fallite, i due componenti, già compagni nella vita, decidono di suonare assieme. La cosa è molto comoda: stessi gusti musicali, niente prove ad orari fissi, grazie alla stanza attrezzata direttamente in casa. Il problema è che i due amano suonare rock, come rendere la cosa possibile senza un canonico gruppo di 3-4 componenti? Alla fine si sono resi conto che la cosa poteva funzionare anche in due: certo il risultato è più crudo ed essenziale, ma il minimalismo può aver il suo fascino, se poi aggiungiamo melodie “emozionali” ecco che il gioco è fatto. I TS sono quindi la controparte italiana di altri duo maggiormente famosi, come gli ormai super-acclamati White Stripes o gli Inglesi Blood Red Shoes. Ovviamente ognuno di questi duo interpreta la musica in maniera personale, chi più blues o punk, chi rock ecc. ma ciò che li accomuna è proprio l’originalità della formazione. Solitamente siamo abituati ai duo in versione tastiera-voce, chitarra acustica-voce ecc mentre nei TS troviamo Stefano alla batteria e Giusy alla chitarra-elettrica e voce. I due compongono brani propri, con suoni distorti ma melodie facilmente ascoltabili e capibili, per cui il risultato è un genere che potremmo definire “Rock melodico”. I testi sono in inglese, lingua scelta per la sua universalità e per non distrarre l’ascoltatore italiano dalla base musicale; la voce diventa quindi strumento, prediligendo il suo aspetto sonoro anziché di messaggio. Eppure i testi sono molto profondi ed evocativi: parlano dei sentimenti universali dell’uomo, della sua ansia di ricerca, o delle sue deviazioni, problematiche e malattie, come la depressione, per esempio. Altra originalità del duo in questione è la loro formazione musicale, iniziata piuttosto avanti con l’età, come risposta di una passione non sviluppata nel periodo giovanile. Il risultato è che ci troviamo di fronte a una “giovane band” per quanto riguarda l’esperienza o il repertorio che sono riusciti a sviluppare, mentre dall’altra abbiamo un gusto musicale sofisticato e maturo. Questo mix rende la musica dei TS fruibile da una maggior fascia di pubblico: i più giovani vengono attratti dai suoni distorti della chitarra mentre le persone più “avanti” con l’età apprezzano la melodia, gli arrangiamenti e una vaga rimembranza alla Patti Smith. Per tutti questi motivi i commenti sui TS si sono sprecati: c’è chi li ha definiti “Elfi senz’età” e chi ha voluto descrivere la musicista come la “rocker dalla collana di perle”. Il loro scopo resta comunque uno soltanto: quello di comunicare emozioni con la loro musica, da cui la scelta del nome stesso della band: Talking Sound, il Suono che Parla, appunto. Quello che desiderano, ora, è poter fare esperienza su palco e farsi conoscere dal pubblico della zona, cosa non sempre facile nei locali per via dell’unica ora di repertorio a loro disposizione. Cercano quindi situazioni in cui si alternano sul palco più gruppi, oppure una band con caratteristiche simili, per poter unire le proprie forze e cercare date assieme.
