About Me |
|
| Hailing from the small segregated southern town, where Civil Rights Fighters, Rosa L Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr., once pounded the pavement for peace, privilege and equality for all, was born a Virgo-Soul-Child of the 1974 disco days.
Curtis was heavily steeped in music and art from birth. It was uncomplicated to recognize his intense passion for singing, dancing, drawing or anything else that stimulated creativity.
He attended his family's Baptist church on most Sunday's. This is where he was heavily influenced by heart-felt testimonials and true-to-life gospel music, which stirred (shook) the soul. Curtis spent much of his spare time singing in the local choirs or at home drawing.
He was also in the school band and often formed singing groups to mimic those most popular at that time.
Since he was heavily and regularly ridiculed at school, he spent significant time with his grandmother and her friends. He enjoyed the wisdom and the tales of "how it used to be", or the "good ole days." Those discussions, gave him a greater appreciation for what he and his family had, and also the struggles that the Afro-American Family had endured.
Curtis pursued the first of his two passions, visual art. It was disappointing to realize how unfullfilling and commercialized his career would be after college. He also did not feel he would contribute anything positive to society, by just sitting in a cubicle clicking a mouse all day.
He wanted to do something in his life that would bring forth change!
Nearly four decades after King's untimely departure from this earth, blatant social inequalities, and global chaos still run rampant
Fueled by "These Days", Curtis vows to do his part to counteract the deteriorated social climate.
Music, being a universal language, is the medium he decided to pursue. He is No longer held back by the restraints that lowered his self-esteem as a child. He has set out on this life mission.
Curtis Khafre's passion of making music, that would help heal the world, can now be a reality.
