Modern Rock 94.5 has been around for over 10+ years in the Fargo area in one form or another and has featured dozens of live bands over the years including, Venus in Furs, the Decomposeurs, the Decoys, Drew Danberry, 10 days, Thenoras, Vulcan Mindmeld, Six ways to Sunday, and many many more. It started out in 1993 as an Alternative radio show late Saturday nights on KSSZ-FM 92.7 called Manchester Avenue. Though a very popular show, it was short-lived due to the sale of KSSZ to a conservative religious group. It was then re-incarnated on KCQV-FM in 1995 from 7-MID every night. Again popular but short lived because of a change in management. It then stayed underground with a low power transmitter at 94.5 and began streaming over the internet. Most listening is done on-line due to the limited range of the FM signal. There was about a year and a half that it surfaced again on commercial radio through KVMI-FM from about 2005 to 2006, but again was dumped when KVMI moved their studios to Casselton. It was in 2000 that the first live band played on the air in our small cramped studios, and it was Venus in Furs that had the honors. Since then many bands have played live, with recordings made of their performances. Hopefully soon we will be able t o offer them on this website as well as the www.angelfire.com/nd/p1r4t3z website.
