| "Blue Beat & The Tumblin Donkeys", based in
Switzerland, fail to be defined by one single label/genre. The band’s
songwriter and singer/guitarist, Beat Hüppin, states that it’s really all about
writing and performing great songs, regardless what label might get attached to
them. When asked about his influences, he names bands and artists stilistically
as diverse as country, blues, rock, metal and even soul/funk.
A true eclectic, one might say. Still, the music is definitely rooted in the country tradition, which cannot be overheard. So BB&TD chose to have their debut album released on the Swiss label "Country Elite Special", which is dedicated to traditional country, country rock and rockabilly. Following the release of the album in September 2007, the band got airplay in several countries: France, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, good ol’ U.S. and of course in their homebase Switzerland. On top of it, BB&TD got credited for one track being used in the soundtrack of a sequel of the intensely popular TV show "CSI Miami". Quite an unusual achievement for a songwriter from the land of cows and cheese, isn’t it. "Blue Beat & The Tumblin Donkeys" - a joyful, witty, hot & cool fusion of country, rock, blues, rockabilly that’s guaranteed to rock the donkeys till they tumble!
