| I write lyrics for songs, ranging from pleasant ballads to fairly serious stuff, dealing with relationships, religion, poverty and the third world, Springsteen-type stories, war, and, well, I'm still writing... about twenty-five songs to date. The recordings on the player are very basic, i.e. unrefined demos, and the songs could be interpreted in many different ways; please see my blog The Lyrics for the words. And then look at my other blogs for the words of other songs. My daughter was the full inspiration for Words can Wait, and my wife has written music for Early Days. War Correspondent, Still Shining, and If. We have a friend in Lausanne, Marie, a very gifted pianist, who wrote the music for the three songs recorded on the player, Words can Wait, Storm Rising, and alternative music for If; she is working on some of the others.I have promises or semi-promises of collaboration to produce music for several other sets of lyrics, and others still are waiting for offers of collaboration, so please get in touch if any interest you. A few people have expressed an interest in singing some of the songs, and as soon as they get on and record them I shall either post the recordings here or give a link to their page.So singers or composers, get in touch if you're inspired by anything you see here! I'm very realistic about things, and I'm convinced there are a few potential successes in what I've written to date. I'm dying to get on with things! |
