| ..Ce profil est editer avec Yamour Editeur Profil MySpace Yamour Editeur Myspace Born in Marseille from Italian parents, JO VURCHIO was discovered and initiated to classical guitar by Denis Salvador. Denis made him enter the “Academie de Guitare de Marseille”. There, during his years as a pupil of Francois Tomasi and Lucien Bataglia, two unchallenged masters of the classical guitar, Jo met Claude Djaoui, who made him discover the subtleties of Brazilian guitar. This was the starting point for Jo’s great, everlasting passion for Brazil and its culture. Jo’s encounter with Japanese culture ended up in “L’esprit du vent” (Spirit of the wind), first of a series of award winning guitar & dance shows featuring the Japanese dancer Masumi Kawakita and the painter Anne Bruyere. The soundtrack of the show is available on Jo’s CD “Calme”. Jo is the initiator and organiser of “Les Alliances de la Guitare”, his “own” international guitar festival. He forms an unique French – Brazilian guitar-duo with Toninho Ramos. The duo performed in Europe, Africa and South-America and was invited to several famous radio shows. Although these encounters enriched his musical identity, it’s as a solo performer that Jo fully reveals his style full of sensitivity and variety. As a composer and guitar player, Jo defines his music as a self-expression: he plays what he is, what he becomes and composes what he lives. His technique is just a tool whose aim is to serve his music, and his music is his way of life. Requested by the Casa de la Culture of the Azores Islands, Jo just finished a musical suite where all is about “Water”, and works currently on a Brazilian guitar CD with Toninho Ramos. | |
