About Me |
|
Please note that we are NOT in touch with any of the people that are/were involved with Tommy Hools. This page has been brought to you courtesy of the fans. Cheers! Tommy Hools are Laurent & Nicolas, two Parisians bound by a shared passion for soul, reggae, hip hop, and pop music, as well as for the typically British street casual culture. They have known each other for over ten years, but the band was formed in 1996. Originally Tommy Hools was a name they had chosen for a line of clothes, but the production actually never came out. Or rather it did, but it wasn’t clothes though: instead they made hip hop; a dark, cinematic, instrumental hip hop which took shape on two EPs and a limited edition 7" single, all of which released between June 97 and June 98. However Tommy Hools’ music is growing ever more organic and has become free of the usual rules and codes of hip hop. Instead, it offers a blend of their many influences. After “Popular Frequencies”, their first LP, “Shut up”, a remixes album with the top European producers & Djs revisiting their very first tunes. Tommy Hools' upcoming album "All Souls' Night" embodies months of encounters, human adventures and spirited artistic collaborations. Acclaimed producer Markus Dravs (Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Björk) and engineer Bruno Ellingham (New Order, Coldplay,Travis) added a magic touch to a project that combines vocal styles and influences. Hawksley Workman's indefinable style, Christopher Stills' soul music influences (he's the son of Stephen Stills and Véronique Sanson) and Richard Archer's brit-pop inflexions all combine in this opus, built like a patchwork of vivid colours and lush textures that intertwine perfectly. Taken from : http://www.recallrecords.com/usa/artists/tommyhools.php This is the Givin' up video : However, contrary to the information stated at youtube, the lyrics were written and performed by Richard Archer, of the current band Hard-Fi but the music is Tommy Hools aka Laurent Bidoli and Nicolas Druel. The actress is Marion Cotillard, who part of a famous acting family and very well known in France, with an ever increasing profile, due to her wonderful turn in La Môme as Edith Piaf. As far as we are aware, there are no new releases pending. A discography will be put up in the future. |
