listen to a selection of walter pico's tracks on the ipod below or click on the banner above to visit the crazyworm records website for more music and information on the artist. born and raised in oxford, england, in one of the city’s many suburban ghettos, was a boy who would eventually grow into a fierce collector of hip hop classics. saving the pennies from two paper-rounds, the vinyl started to pile up until he realised it was probably not a bad idea to attempt to reach the next stage and buy a turntable. after some time, this idea became a reality and the 12” singles were tested for their durability on a couple of felt slipmats. things were nice for a while, the boy actually got quite good, and started to dj – mostly to himself and occasionally his best mate paul – but then something started to happen that would, in time, change his life. hip hop, his favourite form of music, was transforming, and not for the better, it ridiculously started to resemble a glossy gossip magazine. peeps recording in the booth were talking about whose necklace is the biggest and sparkles the most, who gets to date the 'model chicks' and who has the most cars parked up in front of their mum's house. As this metamorphose was taking place, so the boy continued to grow. he had heard enough, and was struggling to find albums that he could relate to. whether you agree with him or not, he decided to make some beats that he felt the industry needed, and walter pico was born. many thanks to those who have left messages and requests. if you're here on my page, reading this to my backing track, why not make friends and please leave a comment (i don't seem to have too many of those). |
