| Raised in a musical family and within the church, Matthew began singing at an early age. Making his first foray into jazz in high school ensembles in Seattle, Matthew would later be inextricably drawn to this musical form that at once embraces tradition and innovation. With a rich baritone instrument and a passionate yet flirtatious style, Matthew’s performances are the natural outworking of a melody that is simmering within his soul.
Studying under renowned performer/instructors such as Dr. Peter Barbieri of Boulder, CO, Ms. Stephanie Bruce, Ms. Kathy Kennedy of the Voice Studio, the revered grandmaster of jazz theory Mr. James Grantham, and internationally recognized pianist/arranger Mr. Shota Osabe, Matthew has blossomed amidst three years of intense performing and instruction in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a CD project underway, Matthew is performing on a limited basis and welcomes inquiries. |
