CALICO'S BIO
Good emcees are made--great emcees are born. Washington, DC rapper (and producer) CALICO is well formulated and needs no calibration. He began writing over fifteen years ago and seriously recording for nearly twelve. Even while gaining the attention of major artists and disc jockeys worldwide, CALICO continues to grind. With over 1,000,000 online plays, downloads, ringtone, and wallpaper sales combined, CALICO is a force to be wreckoned with. His recently released [5.1.08], mixtape "GrindTime Volume 1," which features BME's Chyna Whyte, Def Jam's COMP and more, has already received over 4500 downloads via www.calico-ent.com - www.datpiff.com .

He began "serious recording" in 1996 after doing home demos with a close cousin that would be later signed to "Arista/J Records." While already busy and promoting for nearly six clubs in Washington, DC, CALICO set out to look for production for the "Long Time No C" album. Even after discussing business with Tim Miner (Motown), Kingpin Skinny Pimp (TVT Records), J.R. Rotem (Producer - 50 Cent, Brittney Spears), etc., CALICO had no luck and production rates and verses were just too high. A neighborhood friend "Jam" from Treemint which was a group that consisted of Jam, Can-I-bus and another artist sold him a track that would be the production to his first radio single. Though that single landed him a few hundreds spins and interviews within 3 weeks on a local radio station, it did not go far. He then decided to save money and invest in a beat machine. Every since, CALICO has not looked back and has been producing for himself and others.

The Washington, DC rapper has been featured on Judah's King Of Da City, LATE Presents: Coast 2 Coast, In These Streetz DVD, Black Entertainment Television's Boom TV, Siccness Radio, and DJ Ophax: Just Heat 17, just to name a few. CALICO "GrindTime Volume 2" is currently in the making which is said to have heavier features. "I have a few tentative business deals, I won't disclose because everything isn't in set in stone" he comments.
