About Me

»-(¯`v´¯)-»Carle began by playing rock music but very soon became interested by jazz and improvised music under the tutelage of Christian Graf. Carle continued at the same moment his studies at the Music Conservatoire in Geneva and between 1991-96 participated in the workshops organized by the AMR in Geneva. He studied at the Guitar institute in London and in 1998 left Geneva for Paris where he obtained his diploma INFIMM/CIM. He studied under Gilles Rennes and Philippe Baudoin and also participated in master classes by Mick Goodrick and Wolfgang Muthspiel.
In 1995 he began a collaboration with the singer Jean Bart, where he worked as arranger and guitarist. They have recorded three CDs together and have toured in Switzerland and France. Carle also composed a sound track for the play “Lettre d’une Inconnue” directed by Jean Bart in 2004. After playing at the CH- New Jazz Festival in 1997 with Michel Besson, Carle was employed as arranger and guitarist in the musical "A Votre Sainteté" produced by Violaine Llodra and performed at the Alhambra in Geneva. Carle continues to be much sought after as an arranger and currently writes for the ensembles Otto Voci, Tetraflûtes, Geneva Downtown Orchestra.
From his time in Paris Carle became a member of Sébastien Joly's quintet where they toured France and played regularly in the Parisian clubs. A CD was recorded and a live recording for the french radio in 2000.
In 2001 Carle founded the Polychrone Quintet. He has created a group that plays a repertoire of original material and uses four of the most talented young musicians from Switzerland: Lionel Friedli on drums, Jonas Tauber on bass, Nicolas Masson on saxophones and the trombonist Samuel Blaser.
As a freelance guitarist, Carle has toured through Europe and has played with musicians such as Patrice Moret, Ivor Malherbe, Stefano Saccon, John Aram, Diana Torto, Tom Arthurs, Yannick Barman, Bertrand Blessing, Bänz Oester, Colin Vallon and many more. He is currently a member of the “Geneva Downtown Orchestra”, where he has played with Kenny Wheeler and Josh Roseman.
