Turning fables into reality, Oxid Project's music is a life altering sensation "My goal is to transmit emotions -- to tell a story through the soundscapes I create." Born as João Lopes (aka Jay) in 1986, Oxid Project grew up in Lisbon, Portugal. At the tender age of ten, he began experimenting with music production, manipulating sounds from acoustical and electronic intruments in a variety of music genres. Before transitioning to electronic dance music, Jay drummed in two Hard-Rock Portuguese bands, "Furball" and "Milkshop". During his early teens, Jay's drumming instincts inclined him to produce heavy and fast rhythms, which mostly comprised of sounds from the Drum 'n' Bass genre. Sharp rhythms and atmospheric melodies express the strong IDM accent in his musical recreations. Coalescing pure, melodic, dream, tech and euphoric sounds with touching melodies and thick rhythms, Oxid Project's style is sensually electric and harmonic. In 2003 onward, Jay's diligent studio work resulted in awestricken trance productions, both originals and remixes, of fascinating innovation. After having successfully reached his musical aptitude in early 2007, with the featuring of his production "Before You Go" on Armin van Buuren's radio show "A State of Trance", Oxid Project quickly became a regular feature, and occasionally a highlight, on DJ sets all over the world. "It's exciting to see my music rotate through parties and radio shows worldwide. I believe "Before You Go" was on of the highlights on "A State of Trance - Episode 307" and that has made me feel nothing short of thrilled." The support received from renowned acts like Armin van Buuren and Aly & Fila has made Oxid Project a future electronic dance music hero and a strong emerging trance phenomenon. |
