Born in Liverpool, England, Jose is known as one of Queensland, Australia's foremost jazz and session guitarists. He is a former member of the world-famous pop group GERRY AND THE PACEMAKERS, and has, over the years, been the guitarist of choice for many famous Australian and International artists (see websites).Jose was also involved for a time in the British jazz scene, and played at the famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, as well as co-forming one of England's very first jazz-rock groups, HIGHLY INFLAMMABLE, which featured world-renowned bassist PERCY JONES. This band supported TONY WILLIAMS' LIFETIME (featuring JOHN McLAUGHLIN) on their British tour.He has made over 200 recordings and is listed in the Who’s Who of both Australian Rock and Jazz. His latest 'straight ahead' release is as featured guitarist with the QUEENSLAND POPS ORCHESTRA on their CD "SONGS OF INSPIRATION" (ABC Classics).As an author, Jose's book 'SHORT AND SUITE', a collection of original jazz music and ideas for small ensembles, has been published by MAD HATTER PUBLICATIONS. He is also a well-known award-winning composer, having written many hit recordings, several TV show themes, jingles and music for documentary films. Jose composed the OFFICIAL AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC TEAM SONG for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. His poetry has been published nationally in Australian literary magazines.Jose is a lecturer in Jazz Guitar, Popular Music and various music disciplines at QUEENSLAND CONSERVATORIUM, GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY.Current projects include recording improvised/experimental music with woodwind virtuoso JOHN STEFULJ (Their latest CD-R, "BLUES AND GREENS", is now available, to follow on from last years worldwide Podcast, "COHESIVE INCLUSIONS"), and composing and performing new music with renowned flautist JOANNA SULLIVAN for a forthcoming jazz/ambient CD.
