Music: Everything from vivaldi to cradle of filth, these are a few artists i love some of my favorites The Levellers, Wet Wet Wet, Marti Pellow, Alabama 3 , Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, Tchaicovsky, vivaldi, Squeeze, Al Green, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, The sisters of Mercy, The Mission, Inkubus Sukkubus....Probably out of all these the two bands i would see over any others are the Levellers and alabama3 ... Not only is it great music but music with meaning.Here is a vid from the levellers myspace page to give you a taste...
Movies: Fearless (Jet Li) Twighlight Samurai, Farewell My Concubine, The Crow, It's a Wonderful Life, Thunderheart, In the Mood for Love, To Kill a Mockingbird... and many many others including of course the Star Wars oginal trilogy...
Television: Wildlife programmes, ..aries, classic british comedies like The young Ones, blackadder, Red Dwarf, Drop the Dead donkey...then of course, South Park, simpsons, Like Period Dramas and Shakespeare re-told (suprisingly good, i'm not a fan of modernising classics but these worked fabulously well especially Macbeth and Taming of the Shrew) ... dislike shows like Big Brother, and shows or movies or adverts for that matter any media which gives in to stereotyping and general ingrained unacceptance prejudice, race, sex, sexuality.... and the big umbrella that is the bottom line behind most prejudice Class.....
Books: The Belgariad, The lord of the Rings, The Snapper and The women who walked into doors both by Roddy Doyle, Creek Mary's Blood, Waiting (by Ha Jin) Bury my heart at wounded Knee, Persuasion Jane austen, A Christmas Carol Charles dickens, The Anita Blake Vamp Executioner books.... and many others fiction and non fiction. Tao Te Ching Derek Lin (Dereks a friend of mine and is a real treasure i heartily recomend his transaltion complete with his wise interpretations.)
