Roland Heidrich was born in Budapest in 1983. He began to deal with music as a child, but started to play the guitar first at the age of 14. He was more interested in rock music at the beginning, but soon he got influenced with jazz. His first teacher was Attila Csikós who taught Roland a lot about modern jazz, and made him acquainted with the music of Mick Goodrick, Joe Diorio and Allan Holdsworth. Later Roland wanted to study at the Hungarian Franz Liszt Academy of Music, and learned a lot about music theory from Zsófia Csikos Tardy. At the age 18 came a break in his development. He did not even touch the guitar for a few months. One year later he tried to pass the entrance exam of the Music Academy, but he failed. It became clear to him, that he did not have to walk on the conventional way in music. In the upcoming year, he studied guitar in autodidact way, mostly influenced from Bill Frisell and Fred Frith. The Shades project was finished at this time in what tried to research the potentials of prepared guitar. He met Sándor Szabó just as the recordings on this project were done, and asked Sándor to teach him. The acoustic guitar world of Sándor has a great effect on Roland. He learned a lot about improvising, and "free musical thinking", and found something very important he was searching for all the time. At the time he played a lot with the Bálványos Ensemble and learned very much from Judit Bálványos and Zsolt Varga. The sound of the electric guitar became more and more strange to him, therefore he asked Ádám Schweigert to build him an 8-strings acoustic guitar. This instrument was a great inspiration for him, and an excellent tool of questing in unknown worlds. Sándor Szabó reconvened the successor of the SzaMaBa Trio in 2006 as SzaMaHe, with Balázs Major and Roland Heidrich. ............................................................ ............................................................ ...................I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace) | |
