I was born on October 30, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Eloise Jones. My mother taught him how to sing bass and when I was seven years old, I began singing with a group called "Little Checker." At the age of ten, a move to a new neighborhood forced me to leave the group. However, it didn't end my singing career.

I began to sing with kids in the new neighborhood and at the age of eleven, my brother, Charles Jones, Jr. and I formed a group that my mother named "The Steptones."

For the past several years, I have been singing with a group called Serieux, playing nightclubs and casinos around the world. In 2006, I joined Joe Billingslea and THE CONTOURS.
