New myspace layouts everyday courtesy of flash_beerI love music and that my wife Kathy and I can be playing in a Classic Rock band(Broken Arrow)with 6 friends since 2002. I am living out the dream of my life playing in "Broken Arrow" along with my wife, enjoying the music we grew up with, espically the Pink Floyd. This almost came to an end 3/22/07 as I nearly cut off three fingers on my left hand. We practiced the night before playing our Floyd set which went great, fortunatly we recorded it and this became a tool in helping me to keep a positive attitude through my rehab. I started playing again back in July, the Doctors did not think this would happen till September. We have done some short gigs till now but started our normal 3 sets 9/21/07 and continue on today. Playing the music you love one day and laying in an ambulance the next with your fingers hanging from your hand gives you a whole new love for what you have and can do. There were many a day when I sat in a room with my guitars wondering if I would ever be able to use them again, but with my wife Kathys continuous encouragement I was able to start playing 3 months early. She helped to keep me focused on what I could play and not on what I could not. Playing out is so much more rewarding now, I have always loved playing out but now I play each gig like it might be my last as you never know, and Kathy is by my side with a smile each gig. Playing our Floyd set and hearing people sing along brings tears to my eyes from the enjoyment I get not only from playing but seeing how much people enjoy it, young and old and the memories it brings back for them. I hope to always keep this passion, I can truely say something good came out of something bad. I am not back to where I was as far as playing skill but I am playing, and will continue to practice to improve which is what matters! Its a good feeling to carry this music torch with a new passion hoping that in some small way I can give something back by encouraging younger musicians to carry on and not get side tracked from bumps in the road..... |
