| András Virágh commenced his musical studies at Béla Bartók Conservatoire in Budapest. He graduated from Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where his teachers included Endre Virágh and Ferenc Gergely, as an organist and organ teacher in 1983. At the Second International Ferenc Liszt Organ Competition in 1983, he has awarded the special prize of the Cziffra Foundation for the most outstanding interpretation of works by Ferenc Liszt. In 1985, he studied at the Royal Conservatoire in Liege, Belgium, on scholarship for six month. At the 100th anniversary of the death of Ferenc Liszt in 1986, he performed all the Master’s organ works; in 1990, he played all the major organ works by Cesar Franck, in honour of the great French composer. András Virágh gives regular performances both in Hungary and abroad. His repertoire includes organ works by Bach, Franck, Liszt, Reger, Mendelssohn and Brahms as well as contemporary Hungarian and French organ works. András Virágh is conductor, music director and organist at the City Parish Church in Budapest, and choirmaster of the Kapisztrán Choir of Országúti Franciscan Church. He has regular performances at St. Stephen’s Catedral in Budapest, and is the regular organist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra. He teaches the organ at the Church Music Department of Dániel Berzsenyi College in Szombathely, where he is professor of organ. András Virágh has given guest performances in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, France, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Estonia, Mexico, the USA, and in England. In 2001 from the Hungarian State he won the Ferenc Liszt – Prize and from the City Budapest the Pro Civibus Prize. Virágh András zenei tanulmányait a budapesti Bartók Béla Konzervatóriumban kezdte, orgonamüvész-tanári diplomát 1983-ban kapott a Liszt Ferenc Zeneakadémián. Tanárai Virágh Endre és Gergely Ferenc voltak. 1983-ban, a II. Nemzetközi Liszt Ferenc Orgonaversenyen a döntöbe jutott és a Liszt-müvek legkiválóbb interpretálásáért elnyerte a „Cziffra-Alapítvány” különdíját. 1985-ben a liégei „Royal Conservatoire” ösztöndíjasaként hat hónapot töltött Belgiumban. 1986-ban az ünnepi Liszt-év tiszteletére elöadta a Mester összes orgonamüveit és 1990-ben, Cesar Franck halálának 100. évfordulójára emlékezve eljátszotta a nagy francia zeneszerzö valamennyi, nagy orgonára írt kompozícióját. Virágh András rendszeresen hangversenyezik Magyarországon és külföldön, repertoárjának gerincét Bach, Franck, Liszt, Reger, Mendelssohn, Brahms, valamint a kortárs magyar és francia orgonamüvek alkotják. Jelenleg a budapesti Belvárosi Föplébániatemplom karnagya és zeneigazgatója, az Országúti Ferences Templom Kapisztrán Kórusának karigazgatója, két évtizede orgonál a budapesti Szent István Bazilikában és közremüködöje a Nemzeti Filharmonikus Zenekar hangversenyeinek. A szombathelyi Konzervatóriumban és a Berzsenyi Dániel Foiskola Egyházzene Szakán orgonát tanít, föiskolai tanár. Müvészi pályafutásának elismeréseként 2001. március 15-én a Magyar Köztársaság Nemzeti Kulturális Örökség Minisztériumának Minisztere a LISZT FERENC–díjat, Budapest Belvárosának Önkormányzata a PRO-CIVIBUS–díjat adományozta Virágh Andrásnak. Külföldi vendégszerepléseinek helyszínei: Olaszország, Ausztria, Németország, Svájc, Belgium, Dánia, Finnország, Franciaország, Szlovákia, Bulgária, Spanyolország, Mexikó, Észtország, USA és Anglia. |
