| London singer Princess nomi’s musical style fuses the best of hip hop beats, dirty electro, blues and funky bass lines; combined with witty lyrics and intoxicatingly catchy melodies.From a young age nomi’s love and interest in music was always prominent- Singing and playing the school piano whenever possible until eventually being given the opportunity to learn the clarinet.As a teenager nomi began to write and compose her own material. As a regular clubber and gig goer on the Camden circuit, a chance meeting while out on the tiles gave nomi the opportunity to join a punk/dance band as a singer-she began gigging with them the following week.During her time in the band, nomi played headline gigs in venues such as the Camden Palace and the Scala and support slots at the Brixton Academy and LA2 as well as hundreds of other gigs across the country and 2 tours of Germany. The band signed to RCA during this period and released a limited single.The band received album of the week in Front magazine (without even releasing the album!) and played a televised gig and interview for 4 music; however differences within the band saw nomi leave 4 years after joining.At this stage nomi realised it was her last chance to regain some of her other musical skills, which the years of gigging and partying had left neglected and gained a place at music college to study for a degree in classical music.During her time at Music College nomi began working on her solo album and also explored other avenues of media work through appearing in a variety of TV walk-on’s, commercials and photographic work. Musically she’s also been collaborating with a variety of artists and producers.Having completed her first solo EP, Princess nomi is now ready to take the music scene by storm with her quirky style and quality tunes. | |
