| WE TURNED TWO YEARS OLD IN MARCH! A New York Times and New York magazine pick, Mixer is a monthly reading and music series, co-curated by Melissa Febos and Rebecca Keith, at Cakeshop. We feature established and emerging poets, fiction and nonfiction writers, and bands. Mixer is the third Wednesday of every month, (except when it's the second). To sign up for our low-impact mailing list, email us at mixernewyork@gmail.com. On May 20th we'll have Bret Anthony Johnston, Tracey K. Smith, Alex Mindt and musical guest TBA. Come for the poetry, stay for the fiction. Come for the fiction, stay for the music. Come for the music, stay for the drinks. Come for the drinks, gorge yourself on cupcakes upstairs on the way out. Rivington and Stanton), F, V to 2nd Ave., JMZ, F to Delancey WHO GIVES PROPS TO MIXER? Lauren Cerand at Maud Newton.com says: "New reading series alert, and it sounds brilliant. Presented by Melissa Febos (writer of fiction and nonfiction) …[and]… Rebecca Keith (a poet)...It is going to be a monthly gig, featuring a bunch of writers and a musical act. Highly recommended." Elena Schilder at Flavorpill says: "Hosted by Sarah Lawrence MFAs Rebecca Keith and Melissa Febos, music venue/record store/bakery Cake Shop's monthly reading series provides a quick pace — each edition features a little poetry, a little fiction, and a rock band or two — and a highly watchable crowd." And rocked it, old tyme style." Williamsburg is Dead says: "Tomorrow I will be checking out the Mixer at Cakeshop, a reading/music series that I have attended many times and have always thoroughly enjoyed."
