I'd like to meet:Ordinary people ...No Supermen or Wonderwomen...no,just people trying to be fully human,and who don't go out of their way to paper over the cracks ... I feel honoured when someone considers me worthy of sharing their vulnerability and their sense of inner wobbliness with ... aren't we all - to some extent- cripples ? We all only need to love and feel loved .Whether we are Academy-award winners,rock band leaders or the funny lady next door with the wonky teeth and whose name will never be in any magazine (that will be me )...Some people like rubbing shoulders with celebrity ...I like rubbing hearts with humanity . |

Music:I don't like rap;and R&B (but I'm not 100% sure what it is)...Oh,and some type of jazz I find unbearable to listen to - literally : I had to ask a friend to turn off her radio the other day because I could feel myself turn into Mrs Hyde ! |

Movies:There are different categories: - films I have seen 5 times or more ,among which the 'old' walt Disneys,"All about Eve", "Groundhog day" and "Singing in the rain"; - films I have only seen once but which have stayed with me for a long time ."Eyes wide shut" was one of those. - any film with Audrey Hepburn ,Cary grant or Emma Thompson; - films that I've wished I had never seen although they were great,like "Platoon". - films I've walked out of,like "Blue Velvet" (yes,I know,another "masterpiece"...); - films I didn't expect to like but really did enjoy,like "Terminator" (I and II),or "True Lies",or "Bedazzled",or "Shallow Hal",or the old "Star Wars".... - films I had expected to like,but hated,such as "Amélie"; - truly amazing horror films like "Alien" and "The exorcist"; -films I would have liked to like but didn't,such as "La vita e bella"; - some Woody Allen films which feel as comfy as an old pair of slippers (like "Alice",or "Annie Hall"); - any or all Black- and- white films from the 30's and 40's,as it is an era that I am absolutely fascinated by; -films that have taught me more about myself than upteen sessions in a psycho-something's office,two in particular,"Suddenly, last summer" and "The sound of Music"; - films that move me so much I can only watch them on my own,like "Mrs Muir and the ghost" or "The Colour purple"; - films that have told me more about about God's love than a hundred sermons,such as "Ben-Hur" and "Dead Man Walking"; - films about the fragility and strength of being human;I'm thinking of "Shine" as I write this; - well,I'm tired now. |

Television:I adore BBC adaptations of classics.Without moderation.Having said that,I don't have television. |

Books:I gave a lot away recently when moving houses:it felt really good,surprisingly. Other than that ...if I don't like a book,I stop reading it ! Life is too short,and there are too many good books ,to waste time on the boring or depressing ones !Although I have read books that describe profoundly depressing events,and yet have been totally uplifted by them (one in particular:"Alone in Berlin" by Hans Fallada). |
