| I am a pianist, composer, and arranger looking to make music that speaks to people. My roots are in jazz, the blues, and rock-n-roll but I like anything and everything that grooves and makes people wonder. I live in New Jersey and work here, in New York, and abroad. I also teach music from my private studio and at Raritan Valley Community College. Besides sideman work, right now I am working with:The Outer Bridge Ensemble (more info at www.stevehudsonmusic.net). This group plays original music that explores jazz, rock, tango, klezmer, and everything under the sun...all with a fat groove. It features Mark DeJong on alto, bass clarinetist Oscar Noriega, drummer David Freeman, Mike Noordzy on bass, and yours truly on piano and melodica.Steve Hudson Quintet/Septet (more info at www.stevehudsonmusic.com) is another ensemble that features James Zollar or Steven Bernstein-trumpet, Claire Daly-baritone, David Freeman or Jerome Jennings-drums, Mike Noordzy - bass, yours truly on the keys, and Curtis Fowlkes - Trombone.The Steve Hudson Chamber Group (more info at www.stevehudsonmusic.com) is a chamber ensemble that explores original material that has one foot in the classical world and another in jazz/improvisation.
