In september 2005, the 3 ex-members of Far To Close, which was a kind of Punk-Anarcho Ska band, got together to rehearse, jam, make some music,... They felt it was time to do something different, however, still within the underground music scene. A bit later Piet joined Black Out on the keyboard and microkorg and it didn’t take long before we had our fist gig. We played psychedelic ska, reggea tunes, did some shows in Mechelen, Leuven, Brussel, Gent, Antwerpen...although we were satisfied with the way things were going, we wanted to create a more dubwise sound. After a few months of experimenting, trying new stuff out and making new songs, Dries joined black out. He plays the sax and Melodica and was the perfect man to give Black Out that extra dub touch! To reach our goals we worked really hard on a new and improved dub sound: we wrote new songs, improved old ones and tried our hand at sampling. In april 2008 we released our first mini cd "Jah doesn't pay the bills..." at the Chaos bar, Leuven. We kept performing but in the summer almost all our gigs got cancelled due to bad timing and a skateboarding accident. Meanwhile we kept rehearsing, writing new stuff, experimenting, jammin',... And, at the end of December, we felt it was time to record our 2nd cd "FundaMENTAL". You probably know what came next...Each member of Black Out may have his own point of view, taste in music and interests. Every single time we’re trying to get the most out of our instruments with lots of wicked stuff as a result.
