La Compagnie X est composée de musiciens aux influences variées (rock, jazz, musiques traditionnelles...) mais tous passionnés par les musiques méditerranéennes et afro brésiliennes. C’est en 2002 qu’ils commencent à fusionner ces sonorités, de manière évolutive : formation de percussions de rue, intégration d’instruments mélodiques traditionnels, chants de transe... Aujourd’hui, ils puisent de plus en plus dans le répertoire musical du bassin méditerranéen tout en gardant l’énergie incontestable des percussions afro-brésiliennes. Ils créent un son percussif et énergique, coloré par les doux timbres des conques marines, les bourdons des graihles catalanes et autres chants de transe. Le groove s'inspire des rythmes traditionnels afro-brésiliens du Nordeste du Brésil, les mélodies mélangent des thèmes traditionnels de Galice ou de Provence, sans oublier les chants des Gnawa Algériens ou des troubadours d’Occitanie... Le tout servi dans une orchestration spontanée, miroir des réactions du public et pleine d’exagération méridionale… “Quelle est la valeur de X ?” The Company X is made up of musicians influenced by many streams of music (rock, jazz, traditional music etc. ) but who are all passionate about Mediterranean and Afro-Brazilian music. It was in 2002 that they began to blend these different sounds in an evolutive way : street percussion ensembles, use of traditional melodic instruments, transcendental chants etc. Today they draw more and more on the musical styles from around the Mediterranean basin whilst keeping the undeniable energy of Afro-Brazilian percussion. They create a lively percussive sound, tinged with the soft vibrations of the conch shell, the humming of Catalan “graihles” and other transcendental chants. The groove is inspired by the traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythms of north-eastern Brazil ; the melodies blend traditional themes from Galicia or Provence, not forgetting the chants of the Algerian Gnawa peoples or the Occitan troubadours.
