Former front man and songwriter of THE VELVET FOG Edoardo Santoni has emerged once again with his sincere and heartfelt lyrics, timeless sounding melodies and arrangements and an overall sound both familiar and fresh. With a debut album as a solo artist on it's way 2008 is set to be a successful year for this inspired and talented Sydney based artist. Coming from a musical family Edoardo's late Father Eddie Santos (who in his prime supported Sammy Davis Junior), was a drummer and singer who entertained many with his love of Jazz, Latin & Italian Classics. His brother Carlo Santone is the bass player and manager from the highly successful Indie Roots band 'Blue King Brown'. Edoardo first emerged on the Jazz/Soul scene in 1997 with his talent recognised early by the likes of James Morrison who awarded him a place in the finals of the Generations In Jazz Festival. He then turned his sights to song writing whilst studying at the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music and has been making a name for himself since playing many major venues including The Sydney Opera House, Peats Ridge, Festival of the Sun, The Metro, Basement, Forum Theatre (Melbourne), Vanguard, Hopetoun, Annandale, Espy, Great Northern (Byron Bay), Oxford Tavern (Wollongong). He has recorded on several tribute albums including for some of his favorite artists including Nick Drake, Elliot Smith and Jeff Buckley (MGM). In 2006 he successfully released and produced the stunning album "Scenes From A Rooftop' with his former band. This led to National Airplay with their gorgeous debut single 'Whispering Clouds' on JJJ & Fbi (among others), an East Coast Tour, a nomination in the Music OZ awards for their funky yet mellow single 'Blue Track' and were featured artists on 'JJJ Unearthed'. Edoardo has performed alongside many great acts and artists including Augie March, Josh Pyke, Damian Leath, Abby Dobson, Bertie Blackman, Matt Tonks & Paul Greene. Recent Highlights includes supporting Jackie Bristow at The Basement and alongside last years Idol Finalist Matt Corby for the Jeff Buckley Tribute Night at The Vanguard. Currently Edoardo is busy writing and recording his Debut Solo Album combining his love of Acoustic Pop with Folk, Rock, Country and Soul. Upcoming gigs include the Melodica Festival and the Entertainment Centre for World Youth Day. |
