| Hello All. My name is Jason Chapman. Im a 24 year old professional bassist in the Atlanta area. Fresh out of college at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I've been playing bass for almost 12 years now and loving every minute of it. The ultimate release. Music has been in my blood since i was born. Passed down to me from my father. I started playing music when i was about 7 years old. Starting on Saxophone and moving on to the trumpet where i stayed for 3 years. After dabbling in other brass instruments I moved on to strings starting with the electric guitar. I studied under Phil Dix, guitarist for Humble Pie, for 3 years before moving on to my real passion, the bass guitar. Playing in various groups through out high school, i knew that on the bass is where i was supposed to be. I went on studying under monster bassist Russ Rodgers of Atlanta learning music theory and the rules of harmony. Shortly after high school i began playing out quite a bit performing around 250 shows a year with multiple groups and projects, and i am proud of them all. In 2005 I decided to enroll in the Atlanta Institute of Music to learn how to harness and wield my skills and ideas. Studying under great bassists such as Gary Wilkins, Russ Rodgers, and Jimmy Haslip, and other amazing musical minds like Mike Zuspan and Randy Hoexter, I uncovered the secrets of Jazz and various other styles greatly increased my current ability. After graduating in January 2007, seven months early and at the top of my class, Im currently collaberating with as many projects as possible searching for the right group of players to commit my career and am now a college level Substitute teacher at the Institute. Im also doing plenty of session work for various artists and labels big and small. Im beginning to also offer my services as a sound engineer, my other passion, to various bands running Front of House sound. I have also been developing and expanding my horizons as a recording engineer producing records for various artists. I've done a few so far and soon will be starting my official training to become a certified Pro Tools Engineer. I hope to one day start my own label and production company.
