| A first musical meeting in the spring of 2006 inspired theremin player Barbara Bucholz and the Finnish singer Anna Katariina Hollmerús to do this project. The ensemble dedicates itself, in its own special way to Finnish music and in particular to Finnish tango. Within the traditional sounds of singing, accordion and piano the Theremin, which is the only instrument played without touch, takes on the function of voice acting as a mediator between the acoustic instruments and the strictness of the electronic sounds. Pointillist soundscapes from the laptop lend a new colouring to the arrangements and open up a further level in the marriage of composition and improvisation. eine erste musikalische begegnung im frühjahr 2006 inspirierte die theremin-spielerin barbara buchholz und die finnische sängerin anna-katariina holmerús zu diesem projekt. das ensemble widmet sich auf eigene weise der finnischen musik, insbesondere dem finnischen tango. innerhalb des traditionellen klangbilds von gesang, akkordeon und klavier wirkt das Theremin, einziges berührungslos gespieltes instrument, wie eine elektronische stimme, und vermittelt zwischen den akustischen instrumenten und der stricktheit elektronischer sounds. pointilistische soundscapes vom laptop verleihen den arrangements eine neue farbe, und eröffnen eine weitere ebene in der kombination von komposition und improvisation. www.barbarabuchholz.com paintings: Anna-Katariina Holmerús |
