| Considered one of the best guitarists in colombia, Teto Ocampo, musician, arranger and composer with a long list of credits, graduated from the Musicians Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, and studied Classical Guitar with Daniel Baquero, Chepe Beltran and Ramiro Isaza. He signed his first record deal at the ripe age of 16 with the now-defunct label CBS Records. He was the musical director, arranger and guitar player on the albums "Clásicos de la Provincia" & "La Tierra del olvido" by Carlos Vives, co-director of the band El Bloque, one of the most relevant and influential bands in Colombian music history, who released an album on David Byrne's label Luaka Bop. El Bloque got rave reviews in the U.S., making it the top pick of the most important music critics in the U.S; The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune and Rolling Stone Magazine agreed that El Bloque was the best album to be released in 2000. Teto is currently guitar player for Richard Blair's Colombian ensemble Sidestepper, currently signed to Chris Blackwell's label Palm Pictures. His talent and originality, and his rich knowledge of all the Colombian musical traditions is recognized in all national and international music circles. Teto has worked with a long list of reputable artists such as Shakira, Oscar Acevedo, Tico y Toño Arnedo, and has worked in proyects such as Manguala, La Banda Dispersa de la Madre Selva, Riosón amongst others. Teto's guitar playing has been heard in some of the world's greatest venues like Radio City Music Hall, The House Of Blues, First Ave in Minneapolis, etc.. He has worked with diverse rhythms, currently focusing on jazz, working alongside many jazz greats like Pacho Davila and his own Invasores del Espacio,(Invaders from Space) and recently with German musician Misael Hornstein. He teaches music in Bogota and other regions in Colombia. In the project Tejedores de Sociedad ("Weavers of Society") and in his own music school "Era Sonera", he has worked in various theatre and dance projects and was musical programmer for a radio show. In 2005, he released his first Solo album under Guana Records. His first performance was a sold out show at Bogota`s Teatro Colon, one of the most important stages in the country. The album is an acoustical gem with a strong influence of Colombian folklore. It contains 11 cuts, ten of which are originals in which Teto plays all the strings and vocals, Gilbert Martinez and "El Papa" on percussions and Luis Angel Pastor on bass for a couple of tracks. The album was produced, mixed and engineered by Richard Blair (Sidestepper). Musically, this album is completely acoustic in a time when electronic music prevails. The lyrics play with double entendres, and at times the words become mantras where the word looses its grammatical meaning to become a new musical arrangement. For Richard Blair, this album marks the beginning of a new journey filled with powerful music, following the traditions of some of the great singer songwriters such as Nick Drake, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello. Se ha desempeñado como profesor en Bogotá y diversas regiones del país, en el proyecto Tejedores de Sociedad y en su propia escuela de música "Era Sonera", además ha incursionado en la realización de música para proyectos de Teatro y Danza, y como programador de un espacio radial. El 2005 trae para el público el primer trabajo en solitario de Teto Ocampo que saldrá al mercado bajo el nombre de "Teto", un disco totalmente acústico con influencia de ritmos colombianos que incluye o nce cortes, diez de ellos compuestos por Teto y un tradicional. Las guitarras,los tiples, la bandola llanera y la voz fueron ejecutados por Teto, la percusión fue realizada por Gilbert Martínez y "El Papa" Luis Ángel Pastor registró el bajo en un par de cortes. El álbum fue grabado en Audiovisión, la ingeniería, la mezcla y la producción estuvieron en cabeza de Richard Blair (Sidestepper) y la masterizacion fue hecha por John Dent en Loud en Inglaterra. La música de este trabajo es totalmente acústica en una época donde la electrónica prevalece, las letras juegan con un doble sentido, en ocasiones son casi 'mantras' donde la palabra va perdiendo su sentido gramático para formar sonidos musicales. Para su productor Richard Blair, "Teto" es un disco que está dentro de la tradición de los cantautores mas grandes, como Nick Drake, Van Morrison y Elvis Costello, un álbum que marca el comienzo de una trayectoria larga, llena de grabaciones, conciertos y música poderosa.
