| Pushing past Brooklyn streets, where Miss Genesis Slams first made noise on the microphone, this project hype song is as strong as her name projects. Her childhood experiences along with urban politics are a direct reflection of her writing. Miss Genesis intends to push urban poetry into the hearts and souls of misguided youth providing as a catalyst for change. Using her passion for poetry and drawing from lessons learned between the basket ball courts and double dutch ropes, Genesis born Genesis T. Frederick has never been formally trained. She uses her drive and hunger for the spot light to fuel every performance. Her Southern Black style is like no other and stands as a bridge between hip hop issues, family struggles and social concerns. Performing Spoken word since 2000, Genesis has received appreciated standing ovations from diverse audiences such as the World Famous Apollo Theater, the NuYorican Café, and the Bowery. Miss Genesis Slams exudes her laid back, humble flow of poetry pushing the limits of today’s typical poet.
