| Petes daughter Marla wrote this tribute to her dad & recorded a full length CD of him entitled PETE SGRO -LIVE AT HOME with the help of her techinical assistant Robyn only a few short weeks before an aneurism of the aorta sent Pete to the hospiatl for major surgery. Please pray for him while he slowly recovers. He is a strong man & we know with everyones prayers, he will pull through this & play his accordion again....... My father, Pete Sammuel Sgro, was born in 1927. He traveled from Italy to Ellis Island at the age of 5. Witnessing such history as the Great Depression, World War 11 & the beginning of Mass Production. He started accordion lessons with a respected Italian musician named John Celli Sr. at the age of 24. He went from porch to porch through Wellsville Ohio playing harmonica with his now world famous brothers Tony & Dom Sgro as a young man. Though he took a different path through the local steel mill in Pennsylvania, he continues to play his accordion at the age of 79. His performances have frequented places at local nursing homes & senior centers, private parties for the Mayor of Wellsville, (his home town), the Italian Festival, birthday parties & more. For years he has been called upon to play for audiences of varying ages & backgrounds, all in our local area. His main goal is to make the young, the sick & the poor happy. If he has uplifted a crowd after a performance, he knows he's done his job. This list of songs are only 16 tracks among the long list he has used to make people jump out of their seats.
