*------------------------------------------*---------------- --------------------------* The SongDogs are a band from Berlin founded in 1996 and named after the Irish novel by Colum McCann. All members have devoted themselves to handmade music and have joined their different influences to their own mixture on the border-line between Folk, Rock, and Alternative Country. Although there hadn't been made any contact to the German Country scene until 2006, their recent CD-release "Hometown Queens & Bus Stops" has attracted attention even there and brought forward some very positive reviews in relevant Country magazines. Finally the SongDogs were one of four nominated bands for the German Country Music Promotion Award 2007. Done the three gigs of the final-tour, the jury told us "excellent Americana, but not Country enough for winning this Country-Music Award". For the first time on the stage of the American Western Saloon in January 2008 will be the unknown fifth SongDog - Dirk Ronneburg at the Fiddle. After he opened an Berlin concert evening as support for the SongDogs in October, he is now a steady member of the band since November 2007. *------------------------------------------*---------------- --------------------------* Die SongDogs sind eine Berliner Band, die sich 1996 gegründet und nach dem Roman des Iren Colum McCann .. mit dem deutschen Titel "Gesang der Kojoten.. - benannt hat. Sie hat sich der handgemachten Musik verschrieben und vereinigt ihre unterschiedlichen Einflüsse zu einer eigenen Mischung im Grenzbereich zwischen Folk, Rock und Alternative Country. Bis 2006 hatte sie noch keinen Kontakt zur Country Music Szene in Deutschland, doch mit der aktuellen CD "Hometown Queens & Bus Stops" hat man auch dort auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. So kamen nicht nur gute Kritiken von den Redaktionen der deutschen Country Music Zeitschriften, sondern die SongDogs wurden auch als eine von vier Bands für den Country Music Förderpreis 2007 nominiert. Nach den drei Auftritten der Final-Tour war die Meinung der Jury "exzellente Americana-Musik, aber nicht Country genug für diesen Country-Music Preis". Im Januar 2008 wird auf der Bühne im American Western Saloon zum ersten Mal der unbekannte fünfte SongDog dabei sein - Dirk Ronneburg an der Fiddle. Nachdem er als Support für die SongDogs bei einem Berliner Konzert im Oktober den Abend eröffnet hat, gehört er seit November 2007 mit seiner Geige zum festen Kreis der Band. *------------------------------------------*---------------- --------------------------* ...
