Welcome to the MySpace profilefor the city of Reading, Pennsylvania. Reading is located about 1.5 hours from Philadelphia and 2.25 hours from New YorkCity. It is the center of Berks County. The city's population was 80,855 in 2005. Reading is known as "the outlet capital ofthe world" and in the game Monopoly, you can "take a ride on the Reading", referring to the golden days of the ReadingRailroad. In more recent years, the city became a well known artistic destination thanks to the Goggle Works Center for theArts. The Sovereign Center and Sovereign Performing Arts Center host events such as Reading Royals hockey games, Reading Express Indoor Football, the Reading Symphony Orchestra, arenacross, circuses, and concerts. Sovereign Bank and CNA Insurance have headquarters in and around thecity. There are multiple family friendly restaurants downtown, such as the historic Peanut Bar and the brand new Ocean BlueBar & Grille. Reading Area Community College is located in the city, and there are three other institutes of higher educationwithin a few miles of downtown Reading. The Reading Classic, the second leg of the Commerce Bank Triple Crown of Cycling, was held Thursday, June 7, 2007 in the city. Photographs

What's happening tonight in Reading? A new Vegas Nightclub in the Reading area? Is The Stadium Nightclub (formerly Club Coliseum) open tonight? If you need a laugh go to The Coliseum Comedy Club . A few months ago, I was approached by a visitor to downtown Reading. While comparing the cities of Allentown and Reading, she stated "The thing that sets Reading apart is its variety of unique restaurants." There are about twelve restaurants in downtown Reading, and each is a totally different experience. Whether you are looking for an oriental meal, seafood, high-scale, or laid back experience, you can find it in Reading. Here are a few of the popular places to eat and drink in downtown Reading.
