| Ash To Dust is the brainchild of Robb Matthews, guitar .. vocals. Formerly of Tucson Arizona's own Flatline A.D., Robb moved to Salt Lake City Utah, forming a band called Anubis, which changed into Malicious Intent. After a span of playing and recording, Robb moved back to Tucson for family reasons. Wanting to continue in the scene, he started a search for musicians for his new band - Ash To Dust. In July of 2007, Robb answered an ad placed by Tucson newcomer (but metal scene veteran) Lael Clark. Lael brought a darker element to the band, in the form of black and death metal, blending with Robb's early US thrash roots. The two hit it off immediately, and the core of Ash To Dust was born. The quest for a bassist brought them Dwight Swanson, formerly of Alas de Oro. Dwight's Mexican music sensibilities add a more original dimension to the basic thrash / death formula. After jamming together for two months, the first songs of the Ash To Dust repertoire started coming to life. The last piece of the puzzle was filled in by Chris Hack, also of Tempers Flare, in early October. The end of 2007 will see Ash To Dust working towards writing and recording their first CD, hopefully for an early 2008 release.
