Rob Reiken has been tinkering in the Melbourne Music scene for 22 years and has played at many 'Open Mic' nights usually to enthusiastic crowds, he also has appeared on community TV numerous times. A Prolific song writer Reiken has always got a new song on the go. A big fan of Luka Bloom which he openly admits has had an enormous influence on his compositions, has met his hero on several occassions. A major turning point in Reiken's life was a car accident that he was involved in 1989, a drunk driver hit him in a head on collision. The smash put Reiken in hospital for two months. It took another 18 months rehabilition before he could walk properly again. Although he says that he would not wish what he went through on his worst enemy, he finds that he can draw on the experience for his song writing, infact ' Riding out the Waves' ( above in the player ) deals with this very issue. Reiken is currently working on songs for his debut album and it should be out in 2009. My Leg Operation 24/10/08.................................................... ........................................ This friday i go in for left leg operation ( Left High Tibial Osteotomy ), from 1989 car accident it being my 12th operation from same accident. ................................................. As my leg is 7 degrees out of alignment the bone will be spliced so i will have permanent steel plates inserted & will be of my feet for around 3 months. So plenty of time for recording my music hopefully then. ............................................................ ................... At time of accident car front end penetrated cutting into my left knee while my right leg femur fractured out of the side of my leg into splinter pieces. i had spinal injuries for 6 years before they were detected & a number of other smaller injuries............................... Right Leg 3 opps........................................................ ................................................... Spine 3 opps........................................................ ................................................... Left Leg 6 opps........................................................ ................................................... It took around 3 hours for emergency services to cut me out of my car & i was not expected to survive due to much blood loss & trauma.
