| O ROT teve início em 1990, formado por Mendigo e Marcelo, que, mesmo antes dessa data, já estavam bem ativos no meio underground punk e metal, seja no envolvimento com outras bandas e projetos ou fazendo fanzines, trocando tapes e mantendo contato com pessoas ao redor do mundo. O caráter da banda desenvolveu-se a partir desse forte envolvimento com o underground de um modo geral, embora o ROT dificilmente possa ser enquadrado dentro dos padrões do metal ou do punk.Ao longo desses anos todos muita coisa aconteceu conosco: conseguimos lançar e distribuir nosso material de maneira honesta e independente,tocamos várias gigs pelo Brasil, nossa formação teve várias alterações e tocamos por três vezes no continente europeu: a primeira vez em 1996, a segunda em 1998 e a terceira em 2002. Isso nos possibilitou conhecer um pouco da cena e da cultura de países como Alemanha, Bélgica, França, República Tcheca, Eslováquia, Espanha, Itália, Holanda, Hungria, Áustria e Suíça.A parte lírica da banda é bastante importante, pois por meio dela expressamos nosso descontentamento com as conveniências sociais e os valores preestabelecidos. Não raramente as letras apresentam um teor cético, sarcástico e radical que se tornou uma marca do ROT. Embora a banda tenha sido rotulada como política, nós mesmos nunca nos sentimos assim, pois o conteúdo lírico inclui também diversos assuntos filosóficos e experiências pessoais que tornam a identidade da banda ainda mais forte. ROT has started in 1990 formed by Mendigo and Marcelo who were already deeply active in the punk and metal underground scene for playing in other bands and projects or making fanzines, trading tapes and keeping in touch with people around the world. The character of the band has developed from this strong involvement in the underground in general, although the band can be hardly fit into metal or punk standards.Over all these years a lot of things happened to us: we have released our stuff in an independent way, played many gigs in Brazil and toured Europe for 3 times playing in countries such as Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Switzerland.The lyrical part is very important to the band, showing a very sceptical, sarcastic and radical feeling towards life and society in general.
